Gala 2009

Once again the marvelous Cipriani 42nd hosted La Scuola annual benefit 2009, and this year marks the 32nd anniversary since La Scuola was founded in 1977.
As every year I with my students made beautiful projects to be put on auction during the night.
I have the three years old hand printed stepstools, the four and five years draw their portraits on apron. Very easy task and lots of fun!

Through the night while we were celebrating and honoring our special guests, those items became the center of a bidding war and even in this current economic difficulties, they were easily sold.

Miracolo sull'Hudson

Un Airbus della Us Airways, appena decollato dall'aeroporto LaGuardia, ha effettuato un atterraggio di emergenza sul fiume Hudson che costeggia Manhattan, senza fare vittime.
L 'aereo sarebbe stato investito da uno o più stormi di uccelli, che, probabilmente, hanno bloccato ambedue i motori. A bordo c'erano 150 passeggeri, due piloti e tre membri dell'equipaggio. Con grande abilità, il pilota è riuscito a posarsi in maniera morbida sul fiume che separa Manhattan dal New Jersey, nei pressi della 48.ma strada fino ad arrivare all'altezza della 23.ma. L’aereo non è affondato ma ha galleggiato sulle acque gelide, lasciando il tempo ai numerosi traghetti di prendere i passeggeri per portarli in salvo. Agli elogi e complimenti del meraviglioso lavoro del pilota aggiungiamo i ringraziamenti al nostro Signore misericordioso che in questo terribile incidente tutti i passeggieri sono venuti fuori sani e salvi.

Columbus Day Parade

Per la prima volta ho parteciapato alla Columbus Day parade. Essere partecipe in questa 64th annual Columbus Day parade insieme agli studenti de La Scuola D’Italia “G. Marconi” e` stato molto eccitante. Con tanto orgoglio sventolando le bandiere tricolore abbiamo sfilato lungo la quinta avenue, da 44th a 79th street. Siamo partiti a mezzogiorno e si e` conclusa verso le 2:30. Ha coinvolto oltre 35 mila partecipanti, oltre 100 bande, carri e gruppi.

Con gioia La Scuola D'Italia si e` ritrovata sul New York time.
