Farewell Italian Bird

Four years ago on Valentine’s Day I wrote my first post on the Italian
Bird blog. Since then lots of things has changed lots of things are different.
I started to write to let myself vent on life situation some time were happy but other time was about been upset and I'm not proud of it. I wrote about what was cross my mind. Right was all about what I have in my mind. As I said lots things are changed I became to likes thinks of what comes from my heart and I want to keep persist on this way. Changes in life are not easy but sometime needed, I'm ready for new challenges, I'm looking in future, I'm ready, I want to write more and more from the heart, lots of new things are coming in my life, I want a new beginning also with this blog. So dear Italian Bird on your fourth blogoversity I will follow my heart and I tell you good bye. I will not delete or erase you but from today you will not longer be the "Italian
Bird” but “A Little Italian Heart."

Dal 2011 al 2012

Un altro anno e` gia` passato, guardando indietro e ripercorrendo con il pensiero gli avvenimenti passati posso semplicemente dire che e` stato anno acro-dolce con alti e bassi con gioie e dolori. I momenti amari di quest'anno... Il 2011 di cerco non e` iniziato per niente bene. La perdita di Otto ha lasciato dentro i nostri cuori un vuoto immenso. Le feste natalizie non aiutano ad alleviare la tristezza ma solo riportano a galla con sofferenza gli ultimi suoi giorni. Non mi ero ancora ripresa ed e` venuto fuori il nodulo al seno. Altri due mesi di agonia, fin quando, nella prima settimana di aprile ho ricevuto i buoni risultati della biopsia. Nello stesso periodo la malinconia e la tristezza di non poter essere insieme alla mia famiglia per assistere al matrimonio di mia nipote e condividere la gioia della sua gravidanza. Non e` stato facile concentrarmi sul lavoro, ho cercato di essere attiva con la chiesa ma anche la`, il clima era teso. La maggior parte dei membri ha deciso di seguire un’altra via, seguito dalla chiusura del food pantry e il cambio di edificio. Meditare il piu` possibile di certo mi ha aiutato non solo a superare questi mesi ma anche a crescere interiormente.

I momenti dolci...Con l'inizio di giugno e i preparativi per andare in Sicilia tutto sembra piu` bello. Ancora una volta siamo stati testimoni della grande misericordia, bonta` e grazia del Signore. Nel giro di 48 non solo ha dato alla nostra chiesa un nuovo edificio ma anche la provigione finanziaria per il trasloco. La vacanza in Sicilia quest' anno e` stata insolita. Le prime settimane una sfida, comunque con la presenza continua di momenti bellissimi con i miei nipoti e la nascita del pronipote. Rivedere le amiche e gli amici, ristorare amicizie perse, avere avuto la possibilita` di offrire incoraggiamenti e parole di conforto e' stato gratificante. Dopo un mese ero abbastanza pronta per il rientro. Qualcuno ha detto che sono ritornata cambiata dalla mia vacanza, molto piu' rilassata, meno impulsiva, piu' saggia, o meglio cresciuta... so molto bene a cosa si riferiscono. Gli ultimi mesi dell'anno invece sono stati un rollercoster di emozioni ma vanno nei dolci momenti. Molte soddisfazioni al lavoro e personali, diversi progetti in sospeso sono stati completati o stanno per essere completati, in poche parole sogni nel cassetto che si realizzano, tra cui e` in progresso la pubblicazione di un libro per bambini che avevo iniziato 3 anni fa. Sono molto grata al Signore che mi ha guidato, e mi ha dato, in continuazione le sue grazie, aprendomi le porte di fronte agli ostacoli, offrendomi le opportunita` quando non sapevo cosa fare, guidandomi quando non sapevo che strada prendere. Grazie Signore. Se tutto e` stato possibile e` perche` mi hai mostrato la Tua grande misericordia e concesso le Tue immense grazie. Si dice che il 2011 era un anno di transizione, il passaggio da uno stato ad un altro, un anno di preparazione interiore per i prossimi anni che dovrebbero essere migliori, invece il 2012 un anno dove si stabilira` l’autorita`. Numero dell'anno 12, verso dell’anno Romani 12. Colore viola brillante, l’anno della saggezza e rivelazione. Non so cosa mi riserva il 2012, nessuna “expectation” voglio prendere un giorno alla volta. Resolutions per il prossimo anno non ancora tranne che amare il Signore mio con tutto il mio cuore le mie forze e con tutta l'anima, la mia preghiera giornaliera, "Lord use me today". Tutta la mia vita nelle sue mani...

Ten years later all memories are vivid and the emotions of that day are the same!

Clean Up Time

It’s clean up time after hurricane Irene decided to pass by.
Just few days later, after I was back from visiting my family in Sicily, the ground shook up under my feet with unexpected earth wake. We did not have the time to realize it, that Hurricane Irene was making her way over us. All we started to get ready for Irene visit, stock of food, water etc. Hospitals and homes were evacuated around my area. I feel blessed the only thing I got from Irene was just some clean up from branches at the same time very sad to see all the damage, lost of Up state and what they went through.... While i was cleaning up the back yard and thinking what just happen this past week made me realize that I also need to do a different clean up, in my life a personal one…

A volte servono certe esperinze per realizzare cosa e chi e` importante nella nostra vita. Man mano che la tempesta si avvicinava verso Long Island, amici vicini e lontani, persone che non ho mai incontrato prima, ma semplicemente amici su FB preoccupati mi hanno contattato calorosamente per avere notizie. Dall’altro lato della sfonda, nessun segno da amici o da familiari di cui ti aspettavi, poiche` parte importante della nostra vita. Tristemente nessuna risposta ai miei tanti messaggi lasciati nel tentativo di avere loro notizie, per offrire la mia casa, il mio aiuto in caso di necessita`, fortunatamente stavano bene. Pensando e riflettendo agli ultimi eventi sono arrivata alla conclusion che non vale la pena ed e` inutile avere quando poi mostrano completamente estranei o non ti vogliono nella loro vita e non accettano le premure che hai e mostri verso loro.

Solo Ricordi

Per ritornare indietro nel tempo e rivivere il passato.

Perche` mi sento una vagabonda.

Per migliorare sempre se stessi apprezzando cio` che si ha.

Per poter raggiungere le stelle senza arrendersi mai.

Perche` alla fin fine i ricordi sono tesori dentro un cassetto
e prima o poi vengono fuori anche se chiusi a chiave...

This afternoon I was very happy leaving work and starting my spring break, by the time I got at home I received a phone call that change completely my feeling and put sadness in my heart.
I really would love not to bring work issues into my well deserve spring break, but is hard to not think about. Maybe screaming or crying will help, but I decided to listen music, and there she was. I don't know how she knew that I needed to hear her angelic voice but she always knows.

The singer in this video is a wonderful and very special person. I would love to write a long post about her (and one day I will) to share with all the world how bless I'm to know and to have her in my life...

Here is the New Year. As I reflect on the event of the past year, I try to recognize what was accomplished in my personal, spiritual and work life, the successes and failures, gains and losses. I’m taking each event as lesson that has thought me something and I hope made me wiser. Even knowing that the losses and the bad events of 2010 were more than the good ones; I still release the past year in gratitude. I know that 2011 will be a better year for everybody. Even if I enter this New Year with sadness I know this is a new day at the start of a new year, and I want to be free of the limiting thoughts of the past. Usually at the beginning of the New Year my husband and I write the New Year resolution list. I don’t have one yet, and right now doesn’t matter to me. Perhaps I will do something I have not tried before or go somewhere I’ve never been. I will keep my mind open, take one day at time, and accept all my new experience as loving gifts.
Goodbye 2010, Welcome 2011.
